Suppose you’re looking to explore the history in the area. In that case, the Maple Ridge Museum includes archives and so much to learn about. There are many exhibits on First Nations and prominent families that have lived there.
Raptors Ridge Birds of Prey
For those who are interested in birds or those with children who love to learn, there are over twenty-five raptors in the facility. This activity is a bit expensive, but many programs and activities are offered while you’re there.
Hackers Haven Par 3
Those who love to golf know that Hackers Haven is the place to be. It’s one of the top golf courses in Maple Ridge. Through the spring, summer, and fall, there are extended hours. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or there with the kids, it’s a fun course to try your hand at.
Revs Bowling
A favourite pastime of many, Revs bowling offers both five and ten-pin bowling lanes, so it’s perfect for going out with friends or bringing the family for a fun night out. There are usually specials for families, so double check before you head over to save some money.
Timberline Ranch
The ranch offers so much for kids to do that they may never want to come home. There are day camps, summer camps, and overnight camps for kids to experience all the programs they offer. There’s trail riding, games, archery, rock climbing, a BMX track, skateboard park, and a petting zoo.
Leghorn Ranch
Leghorn Ranch is the perfect place to go horseback riding. There are trails available for all ages and skill levels. Each session includes a complimentary riding lesson.
Act Arts Centre
The Act Arts Centre is the perfect place to enjoy a live theatre show or family-friendly concert.
Laity Pumpkin Patch
One of the most popular spots in the month of October, the pumpkin patch, has separate areas for everyone over six years old and one for children under six. Pick out the perfect pumpkin or enjoy the other activities at the patch. There’s farm animals, a corn maze, tractor rides, or a family games area. It’s fun for people of all ages.
Golden Ears Cheesecrafters
A little unconventional, but for those who love food will love this place. Visitors can see how cheese is being made and purchase some of the fresh cheese from the shop. There’s a cafe on-site with farm to table dishes that are all locally sourced.
Big Feast Bistro
The Big Feast Bistro is the perfect place to support local and have an excellent meal. The family-friendly restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The decadent desserts are a must-try. If you love your meal, there’s an adjoining store that sells the ingredients so you can make it for yourself at home.
Hammond Outdoor Pool
Particularly fun for families, kids love the Hammond outdoor pool. It’s open from the end of April until September, so it’s a great place to escape the heat of the hot summer weather in Maple Ridge. An adult must accompany children under six.
The Rock Wall
The Rock Wall is an indoor rock climbing facility, so when it’s raining outside, or the weather isn’t great, this is an excellent way to spend the day. Everyone from beginners to experts is welcome to join in the fun. Both instruction and equipment are included when you’re there. Children under fourteen must have an adult with them during drop-in days.
Golden Ears Provincial Park
This park is one of the largest in the province, and it’s a popular place where locals love to spend the day. Whether you’re bringing the kids or meeting up with friends, you can go fishing, boating, swimming, kayaking, or canoeing. If you don’t want to go in the water, you can take a hike up one of the numerous trails, visit the playground, or have a lovely picnic. There are three campgrounds to extend your stay. Lower Falls Trail is in the park, and it’s the most accessible trail, which is ideal for beginners or kids. It takes about an hour to get to the falls, which is the perfect backdrop for a picnic or relax from all the walking.
Whonnock Lake
For water lovers, Whonnock Lake has everything you need for a wonderful day at the beach. Kids can play on the beach, have a picnic, or just sit and enjoy the sunshine. The beach area is small, but there are plenty of open spaces, a place to rent canoes, volleyball courts, a playground, and a concession for a quick snack.
Malcolm Knapp Research Forest
The Malcolm Knapp Research Forest is a dedicated forest that has over 800 projects completed by students and researchers. Residents can go walking along the trails, and they can see the beautiful lush forest along the way. It’s the best place to get fresh air for both children and adults.
