Northeast Maple Ridge is a community east of Pitt Meadows and located just north of Dewdney Trunk Road. Along the eastern edge of this community is the highly recommended and popular Kanaka Creek Regional Park. There are two main hiking trails in the area, the Canyon Trail and the Riverfront Trail.
Canyon Trail is 1.2km of uneven terrain, but the views will be worth the workout. Riverfront Trail is a more accessible trail of about 3km of reasonably flat terrain. This trail also comes with outstanding views. This Regional Park is also home to the Bell-Irving Hatchery and Fish Fence.
Wildlife is common in this area, which is one of the factors that prompted the creation of WildSafeBC, a program created with the city of Maple Ridge and Ridge Meadow Recycling. Over 620 bears were reported last year, and the program had a lot to do with that. The Black Bear population has increased significantly in the Maple Ridge area, so it is important to educate residents about possible interactions with these bears. The program has been wildly successful so far in protecting both people and bears in Maple Ridge.
The average home price in the Northeast is just over $1,389,000. With large lots of land and ample space between neighbors, the typical home type in this area is single-family homes with an average of three to five bedrooms.
