Grandview-Woodland is a diverse and exciting neighborhood located slightly east of Vancouver’s downtown core. The neighbourhood is an eclectic mixture of residential, commercial and industrial areas that is both charming and historic.
A large portion of the Grandview-Woodland neighborhood was built along the rise that stretches east to west through the eastern portion of the city. Much of the area’s construction began during the early 1900’s as the newly built railway drew both residential and commercial properties to the area.
Grandview-Woodland is a great community that caters to a diverse group of buyers. Singles, young families, and retirees all enjoy the tight knit nature of the neighborhood along with the many unique shopping, dining and entertainment areas.
Most of the properties found within Grandview-Woodland were built before the mid 1940’s. There has been some newer development to make way for the influx of residents, which typically came in the form of low- and mid-rise housing units.
Homes for sale in Grandview-Woodland are generally either single family dwelling, townhomes or apartment style condominiums. Many of the single family homes have been around for some time but have undergone extensive renovations or upgrades.

Being a mixed residential and commercial area provides many benefits for residents of Grandview-Woodland. Accessibility to many amenities, restaurants and shops allow for homeowners to easily access all the wonderful locations that call Grandview-Woodland home.
The community is known for its popular shopping district, Commercial Drive, which is often just referred to as “The Drive” but area residents. The stretch of commerce offers a wide and varied range of stores, shops, bistros, and boutiques. A well loved feature of the community is walkable to many of Grandview-Woodland.
Grandview-Woodland features a number of parks and recreational areas that allow for community members to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Mosaic Creek Park, Grandview Park, and Woodland Park feature a number of different outdoor amenities such as playgrounds, multi use sports fields, greenspace and more.
Students who live in Grandview-Woodland have a number of schools that are conveniently located within the area. Thanks to the influx of residents during the 1940’s and 1950’s, schools were built throughout the community to cater to the needs of students. Today, many of these schools are still offering excellent education options to neighborhood students. Some of the schools that fall in or near the Grandview-Woodland community include Britannia Elementary, Lord Nelson Elementary, Queen Alexandra Elementary, Tyee Elementary and Laura Secord Elementary. Secondary school students are offered education from Britannia Secondary and Gladstone Secondary School.
Commuting around the city is an easy feat for residents of Grandview-Woodland as major roadways E. Hastings Street passes through the northern section of the neighborhood and heads on to Vancouver’s downtown district. The Trans Canada Highway can be caught just to the east of the area providing access to locations such as North Vancouver.
